What is Fuel Injection

The Innovation Guelph Fuel Injection Seed Funding Program 2016 supports business scale-up projects of start-ups and small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) located in southern Ontario. Fuel Injection facilitates enterprise growth through generation of new jobs & revenue; attraction of follow-on private investment; the launch of new products or services; and cost savings through energy, water or waste innovations. Through this program, Innovation Guelph provides specialized industry business advisory services and seed funding to innovative enterprises in the following sectors: manufacturing; sustainable technologies; agriculture/agri-food; and social innovation.

Innovation Guelph’s Fuel Injection program provides seed funding on a one-to-one matching basis up to a maximum of $30,000, and provides support services including mentoring/coaching, market and competitive analysis, financial and marketing strategy, investment preparation, and introductions to strategic partners.

Innovation Guelph’s program partner Bioenterprise will deliver this program as the Bioenterprise Seed Funding Program to agriculture/agri-food, sustainable and environmental technology sectors.

This project is funded by the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency of Southern Ontario

Who is Eligible?

All applicants must meet these basic eligibility criteria
  • The entrepreneur represents a business that is incorporated (Ontario or federal);
  • The company is a Canadian company located in southern Ontario;
  • The company is a start-up with first revenue or investment achieved; OR an SME with less than 500 employees;
  • The company represents a high growth opportunity;
  • The business must be able to demonstrate matching funds up to a maximum of $30,000 in order to receive seed funding;
  • There is a benefit (directly or indirectly) to the local/provincial economy through the creation of jobs; growth of revenues; launch of products/services; attraction of investment; or cost savings achieved through energy, water, or waste innovation(s);
  • The business opportunity has potential to address Canadian or global markets.
